Make sure you
keep your Juki TL-98Q well oiled. I run my Juki 4 to 6 hours a day and oil my machine about once a week. If your
machine starts to sound rough, oil it again! Sometimes your darning
foot might start to squeak. Simply add a small drop of oil to the
spring and that should help.
Always use a good Schmetz needle for your quilting. A Topstitch 90/14 works best.
Threading tip. I
run my thread from the needle bar through the small hole in the bobbin
winder plate before threading it through the 3-hole plate. This reduces
the vertical pull on the thread.
When using a
clear polyester monofilament thread, I like to put my spool on the left
spool holder, run the thread through the right hand thread guide on the
needle bar first, the left one second and then through the bobbin
winder plate hole. This type of thread is also threaded on the 3-hold
plate \"under\" three times. This all helps to eliminate some of the
twist of the thread.
Clean your
machine often. Make sure you remove the top plate and remove excess
lint. But, with Superior Threads... you should not have much lint. You can also lay the machine down flat, remove the screws from
the bottom and clean or air-can blow it out. |
